Now is the time, for those who would like to take a passenger train to Chicago or Washington D.C. but abhor boarding in the wee hours of the morning in Cleveland, to send comments to Amtrak.

The Capitol Limited line is one of five nationwide undergoing a performance evaluation this year by the agency. It will examine all factors including cleanliness, customer service, the station and the schedule, said Amtrak spokesman Mark Magliari.

“We look at everything, top to bottom, to find a better way to deliver the service,” he said.

The Capitol Limited runs daily between Washington and Chicago and also stops in Toledo, Sandusky and Elyria. Going west, it arrives in Cleveland at 2:53 a.m.  Going east, it reaches here at 1:45 a.m.  The Lake Shore Limited, from New York to Chicago, stops in Cleveland at 3:27 a.m. going west and 5:05 a.m. going east.

Despite the schedules of the two lines, 39,371 people boarded Amtrak trains in Cleveland in 2009, an increase from 36,977 in 2008.

People can submit comments during the next several months through the contact us link on amtrak.com or by writing the agency at: Customer Relations, Amtrak, 60 Massachusetts Avenue N.E., Washington, D.C. 20002-4225.
