Tuesday March 1st, Marsha releases her long awaited, debut album “Late Nights And Early Mornings.” This album is filled with that sultry sound that we’ve come to love and expect from the UK songstress. The vulnerable and seductive intro sets the tone for the album and leads into my personal favorite; “With You.” This joint speaks of the anxiety and anticipation leading up to sharing “that moment” with the one you love for the first time. And the Prince influenced title track; “Late Nights And Early Mornings” is nothing short of jammer. The beat is crazy, and her delivery over the layered piano leaves you with no choice but to nod your head. However, the album takes more of a serious turn on the track “Far Away,” which was written after a close friend of hers attempted suicide as a result of homophobia. Other standout tracks on the album include “Lose Myself,” a remake of Lauryn Hill’s 2007 release from the “Surfs Up” soundtrack, and the 70’s influenced “Tears.” Overall, this project is very solid, and showcases Marsha’s range and depth as a solo artist through her subject matter and vocal arrangements.
