Kabul, Afghanistan– Two “rogue” U.S. soldiers are charged for the deaths of Afghan civilians after pictures were released of the soldiers posing with dead bodies.
German news outlet Der Spiegel identified the soldiers as Spc. Jeremy Morlock and Pfc. Andrew Holmes. Both soldiers are facing charges relating to the wrongful deaths of Afghan civilians.
The U.S. Army released a statement Monday calling the photographs “repugnant to us as human beings and contrary to the standards and values of the United States Army.”
The trial for Morlock is planned to begin Wednesday, while the Holmes court martial date has yet to be announced.
“We apologize for the distress these photos cause,” the [US Army] statement said.
