CLEVELAND — The man police say held a gun to a woman’s head for several hours inside a Beachwood salon will go before a judge for the first time since the incident.

David Carrasquillo of South Euclid is charged with rape, kidnapping, intimidation of a crime victim and retaliation.

Saturday night police say Carrasquillo entered Alfredo’s Salon on Chagrin Blvd., locked the doors with handcuffs and held a 42-year-old employee of the salon hostage.

Unbeknownst to the suspect, two other women were also in the salon hiding from the suspect. They were able to use their cell phones to stay in communication with police. The Beachwood police chief credits the woman with helping bring the situation to a peaceful end.

Two weeks prior, Carrasquillo broke into a Moreland Hills residence and raped the same victim at gunpoint.

Carrasquillo’s bond will be set by a judge Wednesday morning in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
