Family members of a man armed with a knife who was shot to death by Cleveland police officers Friday evening said he was depressed over the recent death of his sister.
Illumindao Lopez, 44, died at MetroHealth Medical Center after the shooting about 8:30 p.m. on West 52nd Street.
Some of Lopez’s family members said they don’t understand why police shot him because the only person he wanted to hurt was himself.
“We have so many unanswered questions. No one wants to answer, of course, because you know, the police are involved,” Lopez’ sister-in-law, Sheila Lopez, said.
Up to five Cleveland police officers fired about six shots at Lopez in front of a crowd of onlookers.
