Oprah Winfrey will soon be able to showcase her Oscar right next to all of her Emmy’s she’s collected over the years. The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that Oprah Winfrey will be one of the recipients of an Honorary Oscar this fall.
The Honorary Award, an Oscar statuette, is given to an individual for “extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences, or for outstanding service to the Academy.”
The Academy specifically cited Oprah’s foundation, her Angel Network, and her South African girls school.
Congratulations to Oprah!
