OTTAWA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) –
An arrest warrant has been filed after a 25-year-old Westlake man was found dead on Put-in-Bay island.
Ottawa County Sheriff Bob Bratton says an arrest warrant charging 27-year-old Zachary Brody of Bowling Green with the murder of Phil Masterson was filed early Wednesday afternoon.
Deputies are in Bowling Green to arrest Brody and deliver him to the Ottawa County Jail in Port Clinton.
This, after Masterson’s family found his body Tuesday afternoon in a wooded area near the Island Club.
Masterson’s family knew he had gone up to Put-in-Bay and were concerned when he didn’t return.
BCI agents got onto the island around 6AM Wednesday. Masterson’s body was removed from the island on the 8AM ferry.
The cause of death remains under investigation.
At this time deputies are continuing to investigate the possible motive and relationship between Brody and Masterson.
