ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) –

A prayer and vigil held Monday night for a North Ridgeville teen hit and killed while riding his bike this weekend.

Cops say the driver of a van struck 14 year old Alexander Sismour’s back tire of his dirt bike on Route 57. Sismour and a few friends were riding bikes to McDonalds, crossing at E. Broad Street when the accident happened.

Sismours friends say he was a fun loving teen with a smile that could crack up his friends.

And many of those friends, more than 100, came out to remember the boy they called “lil” Sismour.

“He was a quiet kid but he could joke around, we had a lot of fun with him,” said Ryan Saleet.

Alexander’s death has shaken North Ridgeville High. His older brother, suddenly, an only child, still in shock, but gratified so many are here to show they care.

“He was a great kid, never teased anyone, never judged, had a lot of friends,” said Andrew Sismour.

Witnesses say that corner is a notoriously dangerous intersection for pedestrians and cyclists, often times they get stuck in the median as traffic whizzes by.

Sismour was transported to Elyria Memorial Hospital by EMS where he was pronounced dead.

The Lorain County Coroner says he had multiple injuries to his head and body.

Sismours’ exact cause of death will be released once the autopsy is complete.

The driver was questioned at the scene by police and released. It is not known at this time if charges will be filed.

Elyria Police say the driver was not speeding.
