AVON, OH (WOIO) –
Groundbreaking Thursday morning for the Nagel Road interchange at I-90 in Avon.
Officials hope the interchange will attract other businesses and traffic at State Route 83 and Crocker Bassett will be reduced. Land has already been cleared just north of I-90 in Avon, to make room for the commercial and industrial business expected to grow here.
Today’s ground breaking was almost 20 years in the making.
This is a $27 million dollar project with no state or federal funding. Instead, all of the money is coming from a single developer and the city of Avon.
Cleveland Clinic’s new $97 million dollar family center will also benefit from the improved highway access.
Construction is scheduled to be finished in 18 months.
