CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

Cleveland Police spent hours on the scene of a fatal accident that happened just after 5 a.m. Saturday morning.

It happened at E. 141st and Miles.

Officers say 26-year-old Darron Smith Jr. of Cleveland was speeding and not wearing his seat belt, when he lost control of his Ford Escort.

Smith was eastbound on Miles Avenue, when he went left of center and slammed into a Pontiac Grand Prix.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two people in the Pontiac, 17-year-old Jalen Sullivan and 27-year-old Rashawnda Evans, were treated and released at Metro. They were both wearing their seat belts.
