Cleveland homicide detectives, police and EMS have been on the scene of a possible homicide for several hours.

Cops confirm they’re investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified black male.

The preliminary investigation reveals that at approximately 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Fourth District zone cars while touring the area of E. 84th & Higbee Avenue observed a suspicious vehicle in an area known for illegal dumping.

As the officers approached the vehicle they observed the driver attempting to remove something from the vehicle. Upon checking the vehicle the officers observed the victim inside. When the driver saw the officers he got out and ran.

After a short foot pursuit the driver was apprehended and placed under arrest.

After checking the victim he was found to be unresponsive and had trauma to his head. EMS was notified, responded to the scene, and pronounced him dead on the scene.

The suspect’s name has not been released.

The official cause of death will be determined by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.;;playerWidth=630;playerHeight=355;isShowIcon=true;clipId=6424028;flvUri=;partnerclipid=;adTag=News;advertisingZone=;enableAds=true;landingPage=;islandingPageoverride=false;playerType=STANDARD_EMBEDDEDscript;controlsType=overlay
