The first alleged victim of abuse by Jerry Sandusky to come forward has been forced to leave his high school midway through his senior year because of bullying, his counselor says.
The 17-year-old African American student, known publicly as “Victim One,” was threatened and called names by teens at his Pennsylvania high school who blame him for coach Joe Paterno’s firing according to his counselor.
The teen—whose mother reported the suspected abuse, leading to Sandusky being charged with 40 counts of assaulting eight young boys—has been encouraged by seeing other alleged victims come forward, the counselor says.
“He feels good about that,” he says. “That’s the one good that’s come of all this.” A lawyer for Paterno tells ABC that the ousted coach “strongly condemns harassment or bullying of any kind, and he asks anyone who truly cares about Penn State to conduct themselves honorably and with respect for others.”
