A 19-year-old mother faces charges after abandoning her baby boy while shoplifting in Crocker Park.

This, after authorities were called out to Crocker Park on Saturday, Nov. 26 around 7:30PM for two teens shoplifting from several stores.

Officers arrived on scene and located the two teens who were in possession of a 1-year-old baby boy in a stroller and bags with stolen merchandise.

The teens claimed two unidentified women fled the scene and left the stolen goods and baby with them.

Finally, the teens gave up the name of the baby’s mother, Brettany Walton, and were released to their parents. Walton was contacted by police and refused to return and pick up the child. The baby was then transported to St. John Medical Center for a check-up and was found to be fine.

Children’s Services was notified and helped locate the little boy’s grandmother. The grandmother came to the hospital at 10:40PM and took the child home; she in is the process of trying to gain custody through the courts.
