Lots of talk lately about Cleveland firefighters mishandling your tax dollars. And we’ve learned the city’s ambulance service just paid a huge bill for what the state calls sloppy bookkeeping.
Cleveland just agreed to pay the state $387,500. However, the state actually first wanted $951,000.
The State of Ohio said Cleveland owed big bucks for how EMS billed the Medicaid system, billing for minor calls or miscoding the kind of runs handled.
The city claimed it had been following rules, and the state was wrong. After months of negotiations, the city agreed to pay the settlement of $387,500 saying that would be cheaper than a long court fight.
