A local mom is sitting  in jail as police search for her daughter who has not been seen in five years.

19 Action News has learned Cleveland Police are questioning India Parker about the whereabouts of her 10-year-old daughter Kaliyah.

This, after social workers told police Parker’s ex-boyfriend said neither he nor family members have seen the child in about five years. He also says India told him Kaliyah died when a bookcase fell on her, but she never said how long ago it happened.

The man who talked to social workers fathered a son with Parker. He also says Parker herself had vanished for months. A police report shows no death certificate for the little Kaliyah. Nor are there any records of her in hospitals in the last five years either.

India, meantime, is no stranger to the system. In 2001 she was charged with child endangering. Those charges though were dropped after she went through parenting classes.
