Wake Tech’s main campus was put on lockdown Tuesday morning after a gunman was allegedly spotted near the community college in south Raleigh.
Wake County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Phyllis Stephens said authorities received a call about a person on campus with a gun just before 9 a.m.
Students, faculty and staff at the Fayetteville Road location were put on lockdown within minutes of the report. About an hour later, students were allowed to leave the campus.
However, authorities said the campus would remain on lockdown until 1 p.m. Tuesday classes were also canceled.
