CLEVELAND – Cleveland police said a drunk University Heights firefighter hit an officer on St. Patrick’s Day at W. 6th Street and St. Clair.

Authorities said the officer who was hit was putting cones out on W. 6th Street to close the road when a truck tried to go around. The officer advised the driver, later identified as Kevin Vonhaz, 38, that the road was closed.

Instead of complying, authorities said Vonhaz tried to go around anyway, hitting the officer and dragging him a short distance.
