CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

A horrifying crash at a Cleveland street festival. The driver plowed through a barricade and into a crowd of people.

Mitchell Andelmo was killed, and four others were injured.

Police quickly arrested the driver, a man police say was drunk behind the wheel.

The accident happened at West 117th and Clifton Sunday at 7 p.m. where people were enjoying this year’s “Dancing in the Streets” festival.

“Everything that we’ve been told so far, it was a tragic car accident. Someone just wasn’t paying attention and just didn’t acknowledge the gates that were blocking the entrance to the street,” said Tracy Jones.

The suspected drunk driver, identified as 35-year-old Timothy Spock, hit five people.

One witness tried to help the injured.

“There was a lot of blood on the one side, but she was speaking,” said Gary Pitman. “But the one guy I saw flying up in the air, it looked like 6 or 10 feet up in the air.”

Timothy Spock will be charged with OVI and vehicular assault.
