CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

The Susan G. Komen Foundation kicks off its annual 3-day walk in Cleveland.

The ‘3-day’ will raise money for breast cancer research, education and awareness.

Breast Cancer is the leading cause of death among women worldwide.

This particular charity walk sets the fundraising bar high, requiring each participant to raise a minimum of $2300.

Last year, the ‘3 day’ raised $3.9 million.

Since 1982, when the Susan G. Komen Foundation was created, the organization has raised over $1.5 billion.

Cleveland is the second of 14 cities to host the ‘3-day’ this year.

Participants will walk approximately 20 miles each day along the shore of Lake Erie.

After the daily 20 miles, the walkers will retreat to a campsite.

The campsite will be equipped with all kinds of amenities; including a gourmet dining tent, festive pink sleeping tents, entertainment and other optional activities.

There will also be a closing ceremony on Sunday, at Cuyahoga Community College, Western Campus.
