Former LA Lakers and now LA Clippers player Matt Barnes, has been suspended by the NBA for one game (without pay) in the wake of his “no contest” plea to interfering with the duties of a police officer, reports TMZ.
According to the NBA, Barnes will serve out his suspension Wednesday — when the Clippers play their season opener against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The punishment stems from an incident back in July — when Barnes was arrested for driving on a suspended license and resisting arrest.
As we first reported, Barnes eventually pled no contest to misdemeanor interference with the duties of a police officer … and his suspended license charge was dropped when he proved he had a valid license.
Barnes sent out a tweet calling the NBA’s decision a “joke.” But, he wished the Clippers good luck in his absence. He’ll be back on Friday when the they play the Lakers.
