NATIONAL: Burger King’s Twitter Page Gets “McHacked” with the Golden Arches
CLEVELAND – It appears a hacker took over Burger King’s Twitter account and used the profile and feed to promote the company’s biggest rival — McDonald’s.
On Monday afternoon, Burger King’s Twitter feed switched over featuring McDonald’s logo while promoting the competitor’s fare.
It appears the hack job started at noon, with a tweet sent out from the official @BurgerKing Twitter account, “We just got sold to McDonalds! Look for McDonalds in a hood near you @DFNCTSC.”
The verified account, which has more than 84,000 followers, has sent out more than 1,200 tweets since the account was created July 16, 2010, according to twbirthday.com.
