One of the men behind controversial pop act MILLI VANILLI has hit out at the current batch of chart toppers, branding them “fakers”.

The band caused outrage in 1990 when it was revealed they’d used session singers to provide the vocals on their biggest hit Girl You Know It’s True.

But Fabrice Morvan claims modern acts are just as fake, because they lip-synch during live performances and rely on technology in the studio.

He tells USA Today, “It’s not about being authentic anymore, it’s about (being) entertaining.”

Milli Vanilli made history when they became the first act to return a Grammy, awarded to them for Girl You Know It’s True.
