Spiritual advisor Iylana Vanzant‘s show, “Iylana: Fix My Life,” premiered with embattled rapper DMX, looking to change his life. During the session, the ever-troubled former hip-hop star blew up at both his son, Xavier, and Vanzant, prompting Vanzant to release an open letter to the rapper over the weekend, saying she still supports and loves the artist and encourages him to find his way back to a “clean life.”

Iyanla Vanzant: ‘My Insecurities Have Become My New Normal’

After her show premiered on Saturday night, with a seemingly drugged DMX abandoning his son and cursing out Vanzant, the spiritual teacher released a video of herself repledging her support to the rapper:

Beloved,

I know we haven’t spoken since our time together in Yonkers. And what I’m hearing is that they are just waiting for the call. They are waiting for the day they get the call. And you know what I mean.

But I’m not waiting for that call. I’m calling on you, and I’m not going to give up on you. I will not stand by and watch my brother die.

Over the years, I’ve worked with many, many people who’ve struggled with addiction.

With help, healing is possible.

I want you to remember the person you became in the final months of your grandmother’s life. That’s a clean life. You can be that man today and every day. Just remember what your son said to you, “

I want a relationship with you that is not toxic.

My brother, Earl, DMX, I support you. I love you and I’m calling on all of my beloveds…to send you their love and support.

I know that there is no valley deep enough, no gap wide enough that love can’t conquer.

My door is always open.

Vanzant was moved to create the video and the hashtag #SupportDMX, after the rapper had a virtual meltdown on her show over the strained relationship he has with his 20-year-old son, Xavier.

When Vanzant went to Yonkers, N.Y., to meet with DMX, he mentioned that he hadn’t spoken with Xavier in nearly two years. Consequently, Vanzant met with Xavier to find out the cause. In that meeting, Xavier admitted that he had judged his father repeatedly for his shortcomings and ongoing addiction.

Watch Vanzant and Xavier’s sit-down here:

By the conclusion of their meeting, Xavier agreed to have a “judgement-free” conversation with his dad.

While the reunion would begin with an emotional hug and lots of tears from both men, who clearly miss each other, it would quickly turn tumultuous once the son said that he hadn’t talked to his dad because of “all he [DMX] had done.”

With prodding from Vanzant, Xavier explained that his father’s alleged adultery on his mother was the main reason why he hadn’t been in touch. When DMX asked why the son couldn’t have just asked him about it, Xavier responded, “There was no challenging you.”

Xavier then went on to explain that DMX’s belligerent disposition made him feel “beneath” his father and claimed that DMX’s alleged cheating ways caused him to view him as a “liar” and “hypocrite.”

All and all, the accusations from his son added to Vanzant’s attempted moderation of the discussion caused DMX to explode on Vanzant, yelling, “Lady, shut the f*ck up.” You ain’t got to be intimidated. Just stop running your f*cking mouth.”

Time will tell if DMX is able to rebuild his relationship with his son or save his life.
