CLEVELAND – RTA said a suspicious duffel bag found at the RTA Rapid station located at East 55th Street and Woodland Avenue in Cleveland Tuesday morning contained no device and posed no threat.

 

The City of Cleveland said the bag contained personal items.

 

A suspicious package was reported around 9:30 a.m. The Cleveland Division of Police Bomb Squad and K9 dogs investigated the site.

 

The area and buildings surrounding the station have been evacuated. Lanes have reopen on I-490 east and westbound, including the I-77 exit ramps

 

Trains east of E. 79th street are running on all lines. For safety purposes, Blue/Green/Red line trains are not running between Tower City and East 79th Street.

 

Buses are now transporting riders on closed lines.

 

RTA is waiting for the bomb squad to update the situation.
