(CNN) – The 8-year-old boy killed in the explosions at the Boston Marathon has been identified as Martin Richard and was there to watch his father cross the finish line, according to the Boston Globe.

The paper is reporting Richard’s mother and sister are recovering in a hospital after suffering serious injuries.

His father Bill is a representative of the community in Dorchester. The community gathered at a local restaurant Monday night to grieve the loss of the 8-year-old and pull together for the mother and sister.

Overall, three people were killed and more than 170 were injured after two bombs exploded near the finish line of the marathon on Monday afternoon.

No suspects have been identified in the case, which federal authorities are classifying as an act of terrorism.
