CLEVELAND – Cleveland police arrested a mother for beating her daughter with a belt, then tying her to a chair naked. Officers said the girl 9-year-old had both her arms and legs tied with welt marks across them and belt marks across her forehead. Authorities said the girl also had a black and blue left eye.
Police arrested the girl’s mother, 28-year-old Domonique Jones, on Monday and charged her with kidnapping. She had a court appearance Thursday morning where bond was set at $20,000.
According to police, the girl’s father was called to the home by Jones and told he needed to discipline his daughter at their home in the 400 block of East 123rd Street because she had inappropriate contact with another person.
The girl told authorities she was forced to lean over a couch as Jones hit her with a belt. The girl’s brother is named as a witness to the assault. He told police he had been hit twice across his bottom and that this was “normal.”
The children were taken to the hospital and both released to their father.
