CLEVELAND – Anthony Sowell’s attorney filed a reply brief of errors in his case on Thursday, recommending the convicted killer face a life sentence rather than execution.

“We know from his behavior in prison and the marines that Sowell pose no danger if he serves a life sentence,” the brief reads. “And there is no evidence that his death sentence or eventual execution will serve as a general deterrent – or as one more compelling that a sentence of death in prison by natural causes.”

In 2010, Sowell was convicted of 82 counts, including aggravated murder, rape and kidnapping, and sentenced to death.

The first remains of 11 women jurors found Sowell guilty of killing were found at his Imperial Avenue in October 2009.
