CLEVELAND – The preliminary results of DNA testing confirm that kidnapping and rape suspect Ariel Castro is the father of the 6-year-old girl born in captivity.
The girl named Jocelyn is the daughter of Amanda Berry, one of three women found alive in Castro’s Seymour Avenue home.
The Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation received a sample of Castro’s DNA late Thursday afternoon and worked through the night to confirm the paternity of the child.
Castro’s DNA profile did not match any other Ohio cases. National results are pending through the FBI.
Castro is currently being held in jail for $8 million bail.
