The man convicted of threatening to kill police officers was a no show at his court-ordered public punishment on Monday morning.

In March, Judge Pinkey Carr ordered Richard Dameron to serve jail time and when the time was up, he was to stand outside the 2nd District Police Station with a sign apologizing for what he did.

The sign reads ”I was an idiot that day and it will never happen again.”

Dameron was ordered to stand outside the station all week, but he failed to show up.

19 Action News Reporter Paul Orlousky successfully tracked Richard Dameron down on Monday afternoon.

Dameron claimed he didn’t show up because he didn’t have a ride to the police station. He also admitted to being drunk after being confronted by Orlousky. Dameron and a friend then went to a nearby corner store and purchased more alcohol.

He was arrested by Cleveland Court Baliffs at the corner of West 44th and Lorain around 1:15 p.m.

Dameron is due in court on Wednesday.
