CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –
Bennett also starred for Canada’s junior national teams and was the Mountain West Conference freshman of the year.
In addition to being the first UNLV freshman ever drafted, the 6-foot-7 Bennett is now the highest draft pick from Canada.
At #19 overall, with their second selection of Round One of the NBA Draft, the Cavaliers took Russian prospect Sergey Karasev, a 19-year old guard/forward out of St. Petersburg.
At #31 the Cavs took a guard out of California, Alan Crabbe. Followed by Carrick Felix, a guard out of Arizona State at #33 overall.
Since the NBA Lottery in May, there has been plenty of uncertainty and speculation as to who the Cavs would choose with their first overall pick.
The Cavs had four of the top 33 picks.
