Officials say 47-year-old James David Myers escaped from Mansfield Correctional Institution Wednesday night.
He was last accounted for during the 9 p.m. head count.
Myers, from Mogadore, is a 5-foot-11, 172-pound white male with blonde hair and blue eyes.
Myers is serving a sentence for kidnapping, three rape counts and aggravated burglary, all with firearm specifications, as well as drug and stalking convictions. He has been designated as a sexually violent predator, according to prison records.
