BEDFORD, OHIO – The sky won’t be lit up in Bedford over the Fourth of July. After 40 years, leaders in the city of Bedford decided to cancel the fireworks show.
The city manager says it is a safety issue. Last year alone there 10 arrests. Another factor is how much money the fireworks show costs.
“The cost of the show is $17,000 and security would be about $23,000,” said City Manager Hank Angelo. “That’s 40 thousand dollars for one day.”
Shaker Heights is another city that canceled their fireworks this year.
The Downtown Cleveland Alliance says they’re prepared for an influx of people coming from those communities to watch fireworks downtown Cleveland.
