Whether George Zimmerman is found innocent or guilty of murder in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, Florida authorities are urging all possible protesters to remain peaceful and “raise your voice, not your hands.”

In a new YouTube PSA, a group of police officers, teenagers and athletes encourage all citizens to “give violence a rest” and refrain from rioting.

“We need to stand together as one – no cuffs no guns,” a young Latino woman says in the 36-second clip. “Let’s give violence a rest because we can easily end up arrested … Don’t lack composure because in one instance it could be over so let’s make the choice and raise your voice and not your hands.”

At the end of the video, a man says “I’m Sheriff Scott Israel and law enforcement does have your back.”

According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office website, officers are “working closely with the Sanford Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies” to coordinate “a response plan in anticipation of the verdict.”
