Sankofa Invites Local Artists and the Community to attend the Installation of the Ruby Dee Mural at Karamu House

Noted muralist Kent Twitchell will be working with local artists and community members in the creation of a mural to honor Karamu House’s illustrious alumni, Ruby Dee. The work is commissioned by Sankofa Fine Arts Plus.

From July 2 through the 19, 2013 Mr. Twitchell will be leading the group of artist’s apprentices in the painting and installment of the 40 x 36 foot mural with the final installation taking place on Saturday, July 20th between 1:30 to 5:00 p.m.

The mural is part of Sankofa’s project titled “Artovation” and will feature the legendary stage and screen actress on the west wall of the popular African-American playhouse in Cleveland’s Fairfax neighborhood.

Event will be happening TONIGHT…2pm-7pm at The Karamu Theatre  2355 East 89th Street
