A state lawmaker wants to pay tribute to three teens killed during a school shooting last year.

Demetrius Hewlin, 16, Daniel Parmertor, 16, and Russell King, Jr., 17, were gunned down by another student at Chardon High School in February 2012.

“My kids were in that school a few years prior, pretty bad,” said Chardon resident, Peggy Robinson.

State Representative John Patterson has filed a bill to name three different highways after them in the Chardon area. He said its a simple gesture for a grieving community.

Many seem to have mixed reviews over the signs. Some support the idea, like Robinson.

“It’ll be a sad reminder, but the boys will be remembered and maybe that will make the parents feel better,” said Robinson.
