BEACHWOOD, OH (WOIO) –

Several Bank of America employees were told while on the job, that they were no longer employed by the company.  The announcement came on Thursday, August 29.

An employee who received notification and does not want to be identified says, “Bank of America is closing our site.  It closes as of October 31. I will receive two weeks for every year of service.  We are a call center.  550 are being laid off.”

19 Action News Reporter Scott Taylor discovered that 1000 workers at the Bank of America Call Center in Beachwood are gone and the center is closing. Reports say that 11 months ago the call center’s daycare found out that their facility would be closing but call center employees were told their fate today. A total of 1,200 Bank of America workers across Ohio were let go.

Workers say they didn’t expect layoffs and were told in a meeting today. Several workers broke down in tears.
