A dedication ceremony took place on Saturday, September 7, at the historic League Park located in the Hough Neighborhood of Cleveland.

League Park on E. 66th St. and Lexington Ave., once home of the Cleveland Indians and the 1945 Negro League champion Cleveland Buckeyes, was dedicated to former Ward 7 City Councilwoman Fannie Lewis.

To many residents in the Hough community, the dedication to Councilwoman Lewis was the perfect decision.  Lewis envisioned League Park as a catalyst for a Hough renaissance and pitched the plan until she died in 2008.

The revitalization project began in March 2013 and plans for it’s completion are projecting Spring of 2014.

The park will now be referred to as the “Fannie M. Lewis Community Park at League Park”.
