Longtime Cleveland Councilman Zack Reed reported to jail on Wednesday to begin serving his 10-day drunk driving sentence

Around 8 a.m., Councilman Reed turned himself in to the Solon City Jail based on orders issued by the Cleveland Municipal Court.

Solon police tell 19 Action News that it is not unusual for the City of Solon to house prisoners in unique circumstances based on security needs or other concerns of the municipality involved. It is the policy of the City of Solon to discuss neither the housing of individual prisoners, nor the security infrastructure of the jail facility because of security concerns.

A jury found Reed guilty on his third OVI offense last month.

Reed was arrested on March 5 at the intersection of East 9th and Rockwell Avenue after he failed to stop at a red light and made an improper turn. He refused to take a breath test.
