Aside from traveling across the nation preaching the gospel and singing his chart-topping songs, Grammy Award-winning recording artist and pastor Marvin Sapp is aiming to provide Michigan children with a strong educational foundation through his charter school, The Grand Rapids Ellington Academy of Arts and Technology (GREAAT).

On Monday, Nov. 11 the institution hosted a community outreach to inform residents and leaders about the school’s mission. Approximately 50 community leaders and partners turned up at the event organized to increase awareness and enrollment.

“I want the community to know that we are not a fly-by-night organization (and that we’re) serious about educating all youth, not just urban youth,” said Sapp in an interview with a Michigan reporter about GREAAT, which currently serves a student population of 420 in pre-Kindergarten through grade 9.
