The names of three Cleveland suburbs have been removed from a French website’s list of places to avoid in the Cleveland area.

“Downtown presents no danger during the day but it is not recommended at night. Some suburban, northeast neighborhoods should equally be avoided,” the website states.

Until Friday the website said: “Downtown presents no danger during the day, but it is not recommended at night. It is recommended to avoid some some adjacent neighborhoods, at day and at night, particularly Cleveland Heights, Lakewood and Euclid.”

Cleveland residents scoffed at the French warning, and News Channel 5 reporter Rich Geyser talked to city officials Wednesday night who were angry about being on the list.
