CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

The Cleveland Browns on Tuesday signed QB Caleb Hanie.

Hanie is a 6-2, 222-pound veteran in his sixth NFL season out of Colorado State. He has appeared in 10 career games with four starts. Hanie has completed 59 of 116 passes (50.9 percent) for 679 yards with three touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by Chicago in 2008, Hanie spent four years with the Bears. Last year, he was the third quarterback for Denver for all 16 games. He spent training camp this season with the Ravens.

He finished his career at CSU fifth in Mountain West history with 39 touchdown passes and seventh with 6,523 total yards. A native of Forney, Texas, he graduated from Forney High School.

A starting QB has yet to be named for this Sunday’s game against New England. Both Jason Campbell and Brandon Weeden are recovering from concussions and their status for Sunday is not yet known. The Browns signed QB Alex Tanney last week as a back-up.
