The President and CEO of PlayhouseSquare announced Monday that GE Lighting, a Cleveland-based company, will be a major sponsor of its neighborhood transformation project.

“GE’s lighting solutions are just what we need to create the beautiful, glowing ambiance that we want, while at the same time remaining conscious of energy efficiency,” said Art J. Falco, Playhouse Square President and CEO.

The centerpiece of the PlayhouseSquare plan, the outdoor chandelier, will be named the “GE Chandelier.” GE Lighting is the exclusive sponsor of the structure, which will be suspended 40 feet above the intersection of Euclid Ave. and E. 14th St. It’s set to be unveiled at an event on May 2.

Falco also announced that the chandelier is in the running to be considered the world’s largest, permanent outdoor chandelier by Guinness World Records. The organization will make the determination once the chandelier is in place.
