Red Cross Cleveland

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

The City of Shaker Heights is making the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Community Building available to residents who may need refuge from the cold. Because the icy conditions can cause unanticipated outages and burst pipes, residents may need a place to warm up. Those who find themselves in such circumstances can head over to the Community Building, located at 3450 Lee Road any time prior to 9 pm. After 9 pm, call 491-1234 (from a cell phone) or 911 (from a land line) so emergency personnel can arrange to open the building.

The American Red Cross of Northeast Ohio has also opened several area chapters as warming centers on Monday, January 27 through Wednesday, January 29.  The warming centers will be open during business hours, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The center says that this is an opportunity for community members to come in out of the cold during the arctic blast that’s expected to hit northeast Ohio this week.  There will be no meal services available at the warming centers.
