City Hall audit has revealed questions about training for about three dozen Cleveland firefighters, and now the state is investigating.

The city’s review found about 35 firefighters are behind on taking refresher training requirements.

The city did an audit of all firefighters because of the case of former Chief Darryl McGinnis. He resigned after the city found he was behind on training.

Firefighters must stay up to date with regular training in life-saving emergency medical techniques and fighting fires.

The city has close to 800 firefighters and about 35 of them are in question.

At this juncture the facts are not clear about which firefighters are behind in what training and by how much.

The state oversees the record and investigating officials are remaining tight lipped.

The Cleveland firefighters behind on training could be fined, suspended, forced off the job, or simply told to catch up.
