1. MISSING PLANE

New day, old questions: Another day breaks with no answers on vanished Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. As sometimes conflicting theories rage about where the plane might be, crews from 26 nations are scouring vast swaths of ocean and land for traces. Authorities say every one of the 239 people on board is both a possible victim and a possible suspect  until proved otherwise. But China says it found no terror links to its about 150 citizens aboard the jetliner.

2. UKRAINE CRISIS

Battle for Crimea:  This is getting messier. Not too long after Crimea voted to divorce Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin notified parliament of the accession request. The move defies the United States and Europe, and sets the framework for annexation. And the West is not amused. It has slapped sanctions on more than two dozen Russian officials while Ukraine says it won’t accept the territory’s annexation. But is the West making the right call by refusing to recognize the results?

3. BIG BANG THEORY 

New tips about the birth of the universe?  There’s no way for us to know exactly what happened some 13.8 billion years ago, when our universe burst onto the scene. But scientists announced a breakthrough in understanding how our world as we know it came to be. And if the discovery holds up to scrutiny, it’s evidence of how the universe rapidly expanded less than a trillionth of a second after the Big Bang.
