The vacant lot on Imperial Avenue where Cleveland serial killer Anthony Sowell’s house once stood will be turned into a beautiful, peaceful tribute to his victims one day. But first, organizers need to raise $100,000 .
“The estimate for the project is $250,000,” architect Kevin Robinette said. “The city has offered $30,000 on July 1 and to match $100,000 based upon what the coalition can raise.”
It means groundbreaking at the Imperial Avenue location will not take place on Mother’s Day as family members had hoped.
“I just don’t understand what the hold up is,” Joann Moore said. Moore’s sister, Janice Webb, was one of Sowell’s victims.
“We would like something we can remember the women by,” she said.
Robinette said he would like to see the project move forward as soon as possible. However, fundraising is just beginning.
