Even though the “King of Pop” Michael Jackson (pictured) passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2009, his music is eternal as is evidenced by his new single, “Love Never Felt So Good,”  which was released Friday. It is available on iTunes and other online outlets, according to the Huffington Post.  Usher, a Jackson devotee, globally debuted the song at Thursday’s iHeartRadio Music Awards.

Jackson, whose death has been attributed to a lethal cocktail mix of prescription medications, reportedly left behind a vault of musical works, some incomplete.  The latest single is part of a new album, “Xscape,” which includes a compilation of eight never-heard-before songs that Jackson reportedly had locked away in his archives.

“Love Never Felt So Good” was written and produced some 30 years ago by Jackson and ’50s/’60s pop singer and heartthrob Paul Anka, who also worked with Jackson on the single during the same time he co-wrote “This Is It,” the theme song to the documentary based on how the King of Pop was gearing up for the mega and much-anticipated tour that never took place because of his death.

The latest single was not only demoed in 1983 but also recorded once-upon-a-time by the melodious balladeer Johnny Mathis.  The track has now been freshened up by Anka and Jackson estate co-executor John McClain, states an Epic Records press release.  The cut has also been pumped up by the vocals of none other than Justin Timberlake.

According to the record label, the album, which has a release date of May 13th, has “a magic combination of the new and the original production that retains the track’s analog, early ’80s feel, while also sounding right at home with the disco-soul inflected music of today.”  Contributors to Jackson’s project are Timbaland as the lead producer, along with Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome “J-Roc” Harmon and McClain, the release said.

Sony’s Columbia Epic Records, Jackson’s 30-plus years recording label, signed a 10-album deal with the iconic’s singer’s estate that was reported to be somewhere around the $250 million mark.  The profits made from Jackson’s vaulted songs will reportedly go in to a trust for his mother, Katherine, and three children, while 20 percent of the album’s profits will go toward various charities.
