traffic camera 4 new

In three weeks, Cleveland voters will decide whether to keep or unplug the city’s traffic camera program involving both red light and speed cameras.

Those who want to scrap them held a rush-hour rally Tuesday to make their case that the cameras are little more than moneymaking speed traps.

They gathered at East 71st and Chester, the intersection with the cameras that are the city’s biggest moneymakers dating back to 2007.

Jason Sonenshein of the Camera Removal Team argue cameras deprive drivers of basic legal rights, like innocent until proven guilty.

Chad Gross agrees with them. He was at the Justice Center Monday to contest a July 8th speeding ticket on West 25th Street.

The ticket was issued at 10:10 a.m., but the picture of the speeding car is in nighttime darkness.
