Burton will not only be forever remembered for his riveting performance as Kunta Kinte in the 1977 award-winning TV miniseries, “Roots,” but also as the host and executive producer of the long-running PBS children’s series “Reading Rainbow.”

The brow-raising beddy-bye book is not exactly for little tykes but for parents who have lost many a bedtime battle with their defiant little angels. Written three years ago, the profane book was reportedly inspired by the author’s own bedtime struggles with his daughter.

The charity event, which took place on Saturday, raised a whooping $442,389 for the hospital. Reportedly Mansbach was so impressed by Burton’s delivery of his hilarious book that he promised to send the actor a copy of his upcoming sequel, “You Have to F***ing Eat.”

During the reading, Burton read the book with such vigor that it was clear that he was all too familiar with the parent vs. child bedtime blues!

Check out Burton’s videoed reading rendition and you’ll be guaranteed a chuckle or two at such lines as, ”Hell no, you can’t go to the bathroom! You know where you can go…the f**k to sleep!”
