Snow Alert 2

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) – The city of Cleveland says the roads in the city are in “fair-to-poor” condition.

The Department of Public Works reports 29 snow plows are currently on the city’s main roads.

The city planned to move 24 snow plows into residential neighborhoods at 3 p.m.

Around the same time the city and Cleveland Police held a news conference to address issues of road conditions, travel and the parking ban associated with the recent inclement weather.

A third shift of snow removal trucks has been approved and will service residential streets beginning at approximately 10 p.m. tonight. If accumulation continues throughout day, the city’s snow removal efforts will shift back towards the main thoroughfares.

Currently, the city has 17,000 tons of salt available. Tonight the city will be resupplied with an additional 1,400 to 1,500 tons of salt.
